Maniac Magee

Maniac Magee is by Jerry Spinelli and is 184 pages long. Everything started when Magee's parents were killed in a trolley accident orphaning him at age three. After living with his Aunt and Uncle in another town for eight years, he runs away during a school musical performance. After a year of running, Magee finds himself across the river from Bridgeport in Two Mills, Pennsylvania, where his parents died. There, he meets Amanda Beale who accompanies him the rest of the way. Along the way Magee has many exciting adventures. He intercepts a football pass made to local football star James "Hands" Down and  hits home runs off his fastball. Because of these acts, he earned the nickname "Maniac" and became a local legend.
